"This is the Washington Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. This leadership conference is only for FFA members. There are usually around 450 FFA members varying from different states as well as U.S territories. They will be roomed with students from different schools/ different states. Throughout the conference they will go visit different monuments and have different leadership experiences. They will be with their small group leaders. Some of the themes they will be doing deep dives are community involvement, empathetic leadership, trust and encouragement, community outreach, advocacy for agriculture, and understanding needs globally. The coolest tour will be going to Capital Hill and talking to Colorado's representatives."
To raise money for their expenses, they will be doing the big FFA auction April 19th. Part of the auction there will be a dessert auction dedicated to the girls. They will be doing GoFundMe and other donations throughout the remainder of the year. The cost of the actual conference will cost around $1,011. The Food will cost around $200. Plane tickets will be around $450 round trip. We will be heading down a day early, so the hotel will cost $299.
From the FFA website: "this conference is the second-largest student experience hosted by the National FFA Organization each year. The week-long sessions include interactive workshops, seminars and small-group sessions led by agriculture industry processionals, counselors and FFA staff members. Each activity focuses on building personal strengths and developing leadership skills so students can better serve their respective chapters and communities."
