In re: Sunshine Law, discussion of possible closure of city department doesn't fall under any of the below topics. Under the law (C.R.S. 24-6-402), commonly referred to Sunshine law, executive sessions can be called by a 2/3 vote within an open meeting to consider the following topics: 1. the purchase or sale of property; 2. anything subject to the attorney-client privilege exemption; 3. matters that are subject to state or federal statutes requiring concealment; 4. Labor negotiations. 5. Discussions of employee dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation are open unless the employee specifically requests an executive session and is still subject to a vote by the board in question; 6. Security details and 7. Discussion of any records exempted under the Colorado Open Records Act.
