IT AIN’T OVER YET; REPUBLICAN PRIMARY IN HD 58 IS TOO CLOSE TO CALL!

Despite what you may have heard or read, the ballot count in the Republican Primary in HD 58 shows a mere difference of 41 votes. Press reports that claim Mark Roeber won over Larry Don Suckla are premature to say the least. Public perception is always important and such reckless journalism does damage to our election process. It is important that the public is aware that approximately 400 ballots across HD 58 are yet to be counted against the current ballot curing process that is now underway. The elective process allows voters who had their ballots rejected by County Clerks due to signature issues can “cure” their ballot so their votes can be counted. The County Clerks reserve some uncounted ballots for the curing process to mix in with the cured ballots to provide anonymity to those voters whose ballots were rejected.
The Cortez Chronicles will provide updates on this race as they become available.
