The Rest Of The Story - Part 2
By Sherry Simmons
In last weeks piece "The Rest of the story part 1" we explored a recently published Wall Street Journal (WSJ) .
The article by Dan Frosch focused on the division in Cortez, Colorado. We uncovered how the media often paints a one-sided picture. If we look deeper into this one might see that the bias one-sided news coverage is largely to blame for division. If we can compare different perspectives and different accounts of the news the readers would be left to surmise for themselves. After weighing in both accounts to a story it would be then left to the reader to make their own conclusion. When only one side of a story is reported their is no other option but to believe the narrative presented.
In the Rest Of The Story Part 1 we left with the questioning why are we in such a state of division: " How did this come to be? Where does this hate come from? Why is this world wide?
Please take a look at the words below taken from Wikepedia ;
"On Monday, May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was murdered near the intersection of East 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, by Derek Chauvin, a white police officer with the Minneapolis Police Department"
What do you read? Emphasis on race, black man-white officer. The loss of any life is tragic it does not make it more tragic by putting a color in front of it. What it does do is race bait and stirs division. This is how the movement began. Headline after headline of black man killed by white officer. The media took this story and promoted racism, division and hate. By all accounts it worked.
During the riots that followed George Floyd's death one could not escape the media coverage of the protests. Day in day out story after story of riots titled Justice for George. The tragedy was real the loss of life was real but the media took this and ran with it. What came from all this media coverage was division and hate.
There was not any stories covering the terrible violence in black communities such as Chicago where there were 769 homicides in 2020, only Justice for George. They had systematically turned George Floyd's death into the biggest tool to breed hate and division the world has ever known. This constant white against black head lines fueled the united states into the astounding amount of violence and destruction.
A reported 168 statues were removed across the United States in 2020, following the killing of George Floyd .
Violence by June 2020 had resulted in 2 deaths, 604 arrests, an estimated $550 million in property damage to 1,500 locations, making the Minneapolis–Saint Paul events alone the second-most destructive period of local unrest in United States history, after the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
So where did this get us? What great solutions have arose because of this constant media indoctrination. Although much time spent searching stories of positive changes because of the protests/movement, none was discovered. What was discovered is the questionable management of the fiances of the Black Lives Matter organization.
The press has failed to report the real story regarding the BLM movement.
There are three women behind “The Black Lives Matter Global Network,” Alicia Garza, 39, is the chief strategic advisor. Patrisse Cullors, 36, is also a top advisor.
Opal Tometi, 36, is the third. She works with the BLM Foundation and is the Executive Director of the “Black Alliance for Just Immigration.” -“Freedom Road Socialist Organization,” a Marxist-Leninist group.
Do the protestors chanting “Black Lives Matter” in the streets know what the “Black Lives Matter Global Network” is?
When BLM receives donated money, where does the money end up? According to research; 71 percent of it goes to salaries, benefits, and consulting fees.
According to a report from the Associated Press, $90 million donated to the political group in 2020 is not reaching Black Lives Matter activists.
In a report published April of 2021 by the New York Post :
As protests broke out across the country in the name of Black Lives Matter, the group’s co-founder went on a real estate buying binge, purchasing four high-end homes for $3.2 million in the US alone, according to the property records.
Patrisse Khan-Cullors, 37, also eyed property in the Bahamas at an ultra-exclusive resort.
The self-described Marxist last month purchased a $1.4 million home on a secluded road a short drive from Malibu in Los Angeles, according to a report.
The media coverage for the these lavage expenditures have been all but silent. Media coverage for the poverty, pain and suffering in Black communities are mute. When the focus should have been on how to heal, help, rise - above oppression, it failed. Or did it fail in its purpose. If to be judged on the scale of dividing this country (and the world for that matter) the media would get the prize.
Cortez Colorado is not immune from such constant in your face division. Local News outlet pushed the agenda of division in which seemed to be every opportunity they had. News articles covering one side of the stories leaving nothing to conclude accept the Black Lives Matter protestors as continual victims of hate. Has the Black Lives Matter protesters experienced unkind verbal attacks, the answer is yes. Has the Montezuma County Patriots experienced unkind verbal attacks? The answer is yes.
Both sides practicing their first amendment rights. Both sides voicing their beliefs and convictions. Both side experiencing conflicts. Not at all what you would read in the local journalism outlets. What you read is one-side victimized and one side demonized.
There can be no doubt that the Black Lives Matter protesters are convicted in their beliefs. It can also be said their convictions of racism in this country has been largely fueled by the narrative of the media.
A constant push of race in your face stories. While protesters across the world march for equality, there is a continual approach and vigor of how much racism there is and a continually lack of solutions. End white supremacy, de-fund the police, no justice no peace, chants heard around the globe. Where is this going? Where are the Black Lives Matters top leaders coming forth with a plan to a solution?
A nation divided can not stand, is this the plan? Divide the people, focus focus focus on hate racism, division and blame. Pit humans against humans, black against white, men against women, women against men. Keep the people focused on division and not solutions which could bring unity.
As the Black Lives Matter protesters are convicted in their beliefs so are the Montezuma County Patriots. Their commitment in honoring America's history and the fallen men and women who sacrifice their lives for our freedom. Their commitment to this nation and the accomplishment within the realms of history.
The Patriots acknowledge
the times of slavery and proudly stand with those who fought to end it. Their commitments go further in their voices as they stand up against tyranny and the ever present attack on our freedoms. These freedoms which belong to everyone, regardless of skin tone. These freedoms in which they speak out for, and stand up for are given by Almighty God and woven into our constitution, and belong to the BLM protesters as much as anyone else.
As the media outlets continue to paint Patriots as racists and domestic terrorist, the valleys of division grow deeper. The world becomes farther from peaceful solutions and closer to what would seem to be the end of peaceful human coexistence.
The solution- turn off echos of division. See people for the individuals they are, everyone created by Almighty God. Dive into the Word of God. Love one another as God Loves you.
